What softwares should I install in UBUNTU? I am a Physics Student

Laptop OS for Physics Students:

Ubuntu is the best Operating System to work with. Whether you are in B.Sc, M.Sc or PhD in Physics (theoretical physicist will have better advantages here..), UBUNTU works best.

After you install UBUNTU OS (Long Term Support versions are best and stable!), let us find some softwares, which will be useful in daily basis. These are of my personal choice, and experience, of course.

1. Office tools called Libre Office should be pre installed. Otherwise install it. Its alternative to Windows Microsoft Office. Libre Office can make your documents to pdf file like a charm. You also save your file as compatible to MS Office docx files. You can open or edit any MS Office files in ubuntu Libre Office. So no problem here.

2. Install Latex full versions. Its helpful for writing documents with lots of mathematical equations.
The best Latex Editor TexMaker. When you become expert, use TexWorks. (This is similar to TexShop for MAC OS)

3. Install INKSCAPE, to draw diagrams.

4. GNUplot for plotting (for all generations).

5. Grace for plotting (I like it from my M.Sc days)

6. SCILAB for B.Sc students.

7. GCC and GFORTRAN compilers for C and fortran code compilations.

8. IDE name CodeBlock (similar name in Windows also), student friendly editor cum compilors for C anf Fortran codes. Best for students. (Though I like to run codes from Terminal, like OLD persons.)

See/perform the following steps to complete the Income Tax payment process:

  1. From April, 2018 to March 2019 (this is for your example!), is called Assessment Year 2019-2020.
  2. You have to see the 26AS form to check that college submitted the income tax regularly. And you salary is also written on the 26AS form.
  3. In the month June-July 2019, you should get form 16 from college.
  4. Fill up ITR-1 in July. See the amount of tax you need to pay. DO NOT SUBMIT INCOME TAX RETURN AT THAT TIME.
  5. Fill up form 280 under section self assessment tax (300) point, and pay the tax online from net banking.
  6. Note down challan from SBI when you pay tax online from ne banking. Also note BSR code and challan no from tax payer counterfoil.
  7. Then again fill up ITR-1 and put the BSR code etc in the form and finally submit.
  8. Note tax payable should be Rs 0.00 and tax paid should be the amount of tax shown in the ITR form and form 16.
